SMART Goals, yes you should!

Specific, Measureable, Attainable, Realistic, and Time-bound.

For example, “Bowtie marketing will increase organic website traffic by 20% over the next 12 months through implementing a comprehensive SEO and content strategy to attract new visitors and create trust among our audience.”

The following must be completed each month to ensure we reach or exceed our stated goals:

  • Ownership ~ engage stakeholders and owners to define goals and provide monthly updates.
  • Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) ~ defining specific metrics - which are meaningful and impactful - to provide a snapshot of goal progress.
  • Monitoring ~ the HubSpot reporting tools will be used to track goal progress.
  • Internal wins and friction ~ Applies to the organization and what we can control. During the monthly updates, speak with management, evaluate reporting, review processes, and other necessary tasks to understand what is playing a positive role in achieving the goals or friction keeping the organization from achieving the goals.
  • External wins and friction ~ Applies to economic factors, competition, manufacturing, and other aspects of conducting business that are beyond the control of our organization. During the monthly updates, speak with management, evaluate reporting, review processes, and other necessary tasks to understand what is playing a positive role in achieving the goals or friction keeping the organization from achieving the goals.
  • Transfer knowledge ~ Once the information has been collected, evaluated, and prepared we must transfer what we learned to the appropriate department and/or individuals to implement new processes or continue coaching best practices.
